Polyamides are macromolecules in which the monomers are linked by amide bonds. This results in a technical thermoplastic with a high mechanical loading capacity. Polyamides have very positive characteristics: they are shockproof, abrasion-resistant and they damp vibrations they are also flexible and tough. On account of their enormous resistance to organic solutions, oils, lubricants and fuels, polyamides are used in mechanical engineering, and also for pipe and cable systems and threads and fabrics.
